Why RootPurr

Formaldehyde, aflatoxin B1, and salmonella all non-detect. Full report (WTJC 2026 No. 0009) published on /lab-testing.

100% plant-based

Cassava, pea-fiber tofu, and corn starch only. No bentonite. No synthetic fragrance.

Per-batch QC

Per-batch COA, internal sampling, and pre-shipment review on every production run.

One dedicated line

Manufactured on a single pelletizing line at a multi-generational family-owned facility, not a co-pack rotation.

Documented sourcing

Food-grade cassava starch from certified suppliers in Vietnam and Guangxi. Each shipment ships with a starch-grade COA.

Where we can't claim yet

No “flushable” on cassava. No “100% dust-free.” ASTM D6400 biodegradability is still in progress, so we don't put it on the bag.

Quick Answers

Frequently asked.

Direct answers, no fluff. Full list on the FAQ page.

Which formula clumps the hardest?

Cassava Formula. Single-ingredient cassava starch produces the hardest clump in our line. House Blend clumps just as fast (~3 seconds) and is softer on paws because of the pea-fiber tofu blend.

Can Tofu Formula be flushed?

In most US municipal sewer systems, yes. Tofu Formula is designed for sewer-compatible disposal. Never flush into a septic system. Many cities also advise against flushing any cat waste because of Toxoplasma gondii, so check your local rules first.

Is Cassava Formula septic-safe?

No. Cassava Formula and House Blend should not be flushed at all. Their dense clumps can stress household plumbing even in plant-based form. Scoop to the trash.

Which formula tracks the least?

Tofu Formula tracks the least, followed closely by House Blend. All three are below 1% powder content per the third-party report, far lower tracking than typical clay litter.

Which formula is best for kittens?

Cassava Formula or Tofu Formula. Both have soft pellets and a single recognizable ingredient profile. Most veterinarians recommend non-clumping starter litter for kittens under 12 weeks; once your kitten reliably uses the box, transition to either via a 7-day blend.

What's the difference between cassava and tofu litter?

Cassava clumps in about 3 seconds and produces a harder clump but cannot be flushed. Tofu (pea-fiber) clumps in about 30 seconds, has a softer pellet, and is sewer-compatible in most US municipal systems. Cassava is made from a single ingredient; tofu uses pea fiber plus corn starch binder.
