Third-party lab testing

Inspection Report WTJC (2026) No. 0009 · issued February 3, 2026

We sent a sample of our cassava cat litter to an independent Chinese inspection lab and we publish the result here in full, including what it does notcover. Most plant-based litter brands describe their litter as “tested” or “safe” with nothing you can read. This page is the opposite of that.

What the lab measured

Five items were tested on a 2 kg sample (production batch dated 2026-01-18). The lab rendered no pass/fail judgment (a commissioned inspection reports measured values) so we show the numbers exactly as issued.

TestResultMethod
Powder (fines) content
The share of fine powder in the sample. Lower means less airborne dust on pour and scoop.

Ammonia deodorization rate
How much ammonia odor the litter neutralized under the test protocol.

Below the 2.0 mg/kg quantification limit of the method.

Aflatoxin B1
Below the 1.0 μg/kg quantification limit. Aflatoxin is a mold toxin worth checking on any plant-starch litter.

No Salmonella found in the 25 g portion tested.

About this report

  • Issuing lab: Hebei Gongheng Inspection and Testing Service Co., Ltd., an independent third-party inspection lab in Xingtai, Hebei.
  • Type: commissioned inspection. The sample was submitted by our production partner, Xingtai Taixue Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The lab tests the sample provided; it is an inspection report, not a product certification or a regulatory approval.
  • Scope: the sample was a cassava cat litter from one production batch. It is representative of our cassava-based formulas (Cassava Formula and House Blend); it is not a per-batch certificate, and it does not cover the Tofu Formula.

What this report does not cover

We would rather tell you what is missing than imply it is done. This report does not include the following, and we are expanding our testing program to add them toward a fuller per-batch Certificate of Analysis:

  • Hydrogen cyanide (HCN). Raw cassava naturally contains cyanogenic compounds, so HCN is a fair question to ask of any cassava litter. This particular report did not test for it. We have not published an HCN figure and will not until we have a report that measures it.
  • Heavy metals and moisture content. Standard COA line items we are adding.
  • Clumping speed and clump strength. A performance measure, not a safety one; we describe it from our own production testing, not from this report.

B2B buyers: current third-party test reports ship with your order, and we will share new reports as the program expands. Questions? Email hello@rootpurr.com.
